Marta Leiva Repiso
Dr Leiva was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, where she received her Veterinary Degree from the University Autonomous of Barcelona (UAB). She completed a small animal rotating internship, followed by a European Residency in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology) at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the UAB. In 2005, she was awarded the European Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology (ECVO dipl) and joined the Ophthalmology Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the UAB. She earned her PhD in 2007 from Autonomous University of Barcelona. Currently Marta is working at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Autonomous University of Barcelona as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, where she has been training ECVO residents since 2005. During the last years, Marta has been actively working for the ECVO, as a member of the Evaluation Residency Committee (ERC), member of the Examination Committee (EC), and member of the Executive Committee. Marta is author of multiple international and national papers, as well of different chapters in international well-known ophthalmology books. Marta is an international lecturer, being her main areas of interest cornea, foals ophthalmology and the ocular signs induced by infectious diseases. Besides ophthalmology, she enjoys spending time with her family and exploring Catalonian outdoors with her dogs.
Stefan Kindler
Born in Germany, Dr. Stefan Kindler grew up in New York in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Returning to Germany, he attended veterinary school at the Justus-Liebig-University in Giessen, Germany, graduating in 1986. He completed an alternate ECVO residency in ophthalmology and a national residency in surgery at the same university, and remained on the staff as a clinical instructor in ophthalmology, surgery, and neurology until establishing the Animal Eye Center Wiesbaden in Germany in 1996 as a nationally boarded specialist in ophthalmology and surgery. Since 2021 he has been a part of AniCura. He has been an adjunct professor of veterinary ophthalmology at the Justus Liebig-University in Giessen since 2007. With almost 200 publications, presentations, webinars, and wet-labs on 4 continents, he is a popular speaker at veterinary and human ophthalmology meetings. Besides ophthalmology, he enjoys spending his time with his wife, his two grown-up daughters, one of whom is one of his current national residents, and his two dogs as well as cooking.
Lionel Sebbag
Dr. Sebbag obtained his veterinary medical degree (DVM) from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (France). He then completed a rotating Internship at Kansas State University before pursuing a 4-year Residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at the University of California-Davis. After his residency training, Dr. Sebbag went to Iowa State University to complete a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences focused on pharmacology and ocular disease models. He now works as a faculty member in Ophthalmology at the Koret Veterinary School in Israel. Dr. Sebbag published over 80 scientific articles in veterinary ophthalmology, with clinical and research interests including ocular surface diseases, tear film biology and innovations in drug delivery to the eye.
Nuno Moura-Coelho
Nuno Moura-Coelho MD, PhD, FEBOphth is a Cornea and Refractive Surgery Specialist at Instituto de Microcirugía Ocular (IMO) Barcelona Grupo Miranza. He is also a Board Member of EuCornea Society, as well as Faculty Member at the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO).
His areas of expertise include diseases of the ocular surface, dry eye, corneal disease and transplantation, cataract and laser refractive surgery. Dr. Moura-Coelho is keen on clinical research and innovation in the treatment of ocular surface and cornea disease, with multiple publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and a keen interest on implementing novel diagnostic and surgical techniques and devices.
